When people call us
House clearance tends to arrive at one of four moments, each with its own pressure:
- Moving out. The new place is smaller, or the movers won't take what you're not keeping. Clearance usually happens the day before or the day after the move.
- Handover to a landlord or buyer. The unit has to be returned empty and clean, against a completion date that doesn't move.
- Estate clearance after a bereavement. A lifetime of belongings and usually not much time. We work slowly through this one and set aside anything that looks like documents, photographs or jewellery rather than loading it blind.
- Decluttering. No deadline, just years of accumulation that finally has to go.
What a full clearance covers
Everything that isn't fixed to the building, and often some things that are. Furniture from every room, mattresses and bed frames, white goods, electronics, wardrobes and their contents, kitchenware, clothing, books, boxes, bathroom fittings, and the contents of the storeroom and balcony. Built-in carpentry can be hacked out on request if the unit needs to go back bare.
When the lorry leaves, the unit is broom-swept — not deep-cleaned, but clear and tidy enough for a handover inspection or for cleaners to move in.
Sorting before disposal
Nothing gets loaded without a look. If you want a room worked through carefully, say so, and the crew will set aside paperwork, photo albums, keepsakes and anything that appears valuable for you to check before it goes on the lorry. This matters most in estate clearances, where important documents are often tucked inside furniture that looks ready to throw out.
Usable furniture and working appliances are separated where there's somewhere for them to go, and metal, cardboard and clean timber are pulled for recycling.
Sizing a whole-flat clearance
As a rough guide: a 3-room or 4-room HDB flat is usually one full load, sometimes two if it's been lived in for decades. A 5-room, executive or landed property is normally two full loads run back to back on the same day. Rather than guessing, walk through the unit filming a short video on your phone — it tells us more in thirty seconds than a dozen photos.
How long it takes
A one-bedroom unit is a morning. A furnished 4-room flat is most of a day with a three-man crew. A packed landed property can run across two days. You'll get the expected duration along with the price, so the handover can be planned around it.
